Former KCCA and National team boxer Mulindra Denish has finally returned to the boxing ring after suffering a serious leg injury for 7 years.

Mulindra, who is the Gulu boxing club head coach got the leg injury during a national team trials in 2018 while preparing for the All African games which was scheduled to take place in Congo Brazzaville in the same year and he ended up not making it to the squad.

Since then, he has been healing slowly until this year where he decided to hit the ring again.

Mulindra had his first competitive fight on Saturday 17th May against Yannick Monga a Congolese national who plays for Lukanga boxing club where he, Mulindra emerged winner.

During an interview with this website, Coach Denish said it wasn't easy for him to recover from the injury which almost ruined his boxing career completely but he thanked God that he has fully recovered now.

According to him, he decided to return to the boxing ring in order to motivate and encourage his brothers who were losing hope in the sport.

"I found that my return to play will help those who were trying to give up with boxing as a sport in Acholi sub-region or Gulu so that they can gain that confidence because for so long I have not been playing and as I have returned now many people are looking forward to returning to participate again." - he disclosed.

He further explained that when he was still playing for KCCA, his former manager told him that boxing started from Gulu then went to Mbale and later to Kampala and of which it motivated him so much to bring back boxing to the Northern region.

"I had a dream to see that boxing return to Northern region because by the time I was in KCCA, my team manager, coach Byarugamba was telling me that Mulindra do you know that boxing started from Gulu then went to Mbale and later to Kampala but when I was listening to his story I saw that boxing is no longer active then I came back home and started forming Gulu boxing club to be there." - he stated.
