Gulu Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Ambrose Onoria has caused buzz online after he ordered security personnel to close down all the noisy churches and nightclubs in Gulu City on Wednesday 13th November 2024.
According to Mr Ambrose, churches and nightclubs must not be allowed to operate beyond 10:00.pm because of the disturbing noise.
"Sometimes I hear noise beyond midnight from churches around the city, our religious leaders should accept that anything anybody can hear from a distance ceases to have value and some pastors have decided to call for night prayers in open spaces beyond 10pm which is not allowed."
"I hereby direct security that any noise beyond 10:00 pm should not be allowed." - He made the directive during a meeting with the security officials, stakeholders, media personnel and church leaders on Wednesday.
