Police To Arrest Partygoers, Organizers Of Valentine's Day Event For Defying Covid-19 Guidelines

Uganda Police has warned all event organizers to desist from organizing any events during the Valentine's celebrations day.

It should be noted that 14 February is considered to be a month of love since it has Valentine’s Day. This Sunday is Valentine’s Day and many events organiser have put up events to celebrate the day.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police PRO Patrick Onyango says that they have been reading and listening to some of the adverts online and platforms telling people to attend these party which is against Ministry of health guidelines. 

“We have read, listened and seen several advertisements both online and traditional media advertising parties in different places like hotels, beaches and other open arenas to celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14, 2021.

According to Patrick Onyango, the Ministry of Health guidelines still stand and the COVID-19 rules that was put in place to combat the spread of the pandemic virus is still in operation.

Onyango however, indicated that anyone who organize or participates in these event will be arrested.

“We appeal to members of the public to report to us any party or event that breaches the Coronavirus regulations. We also warn any person that will attend such events that will be arrested for breaching the laws,” he says.
