On Thursday 22nd Oct, police in Aywee, Pece Laroo Division have rescued a 18 year old boy who was identified as Olanya Simon from the hands of mob after he was allegedly beaten for stealing a cow.

He was having a big cow grey in color so when asked whether he has stolen the cow, he accepted that he has truly stolen the cow from Micaa in Omoro District but while reaching the area, the mob were rapidly increasing so I had to remove and rushed him to the station as a professional police officer to rescue his life. While on my reaching the post, the DISO notified me that the cow owners are in the area so I appreciated it but on their reaching on my table, they told me that they have filed the case at Opit police station in Omoro District.

According to Aywee OC Police on duty, he said the suspect is a resident of Okwii parish, Lalogi Sub-county in Omoro District.

For sure I immediately rushed to area of the incident while on reaching, I found the suspect was a boy who identified himself to be Olanya Simon.

Speaking to the cattle keeper who identified himself as Samuel, he told this website that cow was stolen on Wednesday midday from the kraal when he was asleep.

"This cow was stolen at around midnight on Wednesday 21st when I was asleep at home while not knowing what is happening. In the morning on waking up, I took a walk to check on how the cows are in the kraal, I found when one cow was missing and I ran to neighbors and told them that one cow is missing and I told them that where am I starting from. Then we starting following the cow footage until when we found the thief was caught in cubu, Aywee parish in Pece Division, Gulu." The cattle keeper said.

According to the owner of the stolen cow, his cow has been stolen for the third time now, and whenever it's stolen, he gets It back. So for this time the way the suspect was caught, he wants constitutions to deal with accordingly.

"For Sure this cow of mine, they have attempted to steal it thrice, whenever they steal I get it back, and the way the suspect was caught, I wants law to deal with him. We are taking him back to Omoro CPS because we had already filed a case against him in Omoro so from here he will be taken to the court of the law to deal with him because residents are also accusing the same young man of stealing their properties.'' He said.

Omona Walter, the Pece Cubu A & B chairperson says that he received a report on Thursday morning notifying that theft has happened in his area and a suspect is a person who came from another village to his village but when he managed to reach to the incident he found the suspect is from Adak in Omoro District and by that the owner of the stolen cow had not yet come so he referred the case to Aywee Police station.

Omona, however, urged fellow leaders from different parts of the country to always not allowing people to be moving with animals without their receipts, stamps, and local council contacts because nowadays other people are using fake stamps to tarnish the names of local area leaders.
