Tanzanian president John Magufuli has ordered for the reopening of schools effective June 29. The announcement made on Monday shows that Tanzania becomes the first East African country to reopen schools fully.

While addressing parliament in Tanzania's capital Dodoma, Magufuli stated that lives have to resume to normal because of the drop in the number of Coronavirus cases in the country.

However, the president has been criticised for not imposing strict measures to curb the spread of the virus.

As of today, Tanzanian statistics show that it has 509 COVID-19 cases with 29 deaths according to John Hopkins University.
