Police in Lira City are investigating circumstances under which a 51 year old man reportedly died of electrocution.
The deceased has been identified as Adonyo Moses resident of Olili village ,Abwocolili parish, Awiodyek Sub-County in Lira District.
It is alleged that the deceased who was chatting with his friends touched on a live electric wire which was hanging from an electric pole and died instantly in a short while.
The incident occurred on the 3rd October 2023 at around 09:50 hours from Majani trading center.
According to North Kyoga police PRO SP Patrick Jimmy Okema has issued a statement concerning an incident of rash and negligence that caused the death of a 51-year-old man in Lira district.
He stated that statements has also been recorded from eye witnesses meanwhile the body has also been removed after the umeme officials were called upon later conveyed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem.
Police were notified by the LCII chairperson of the Okello Dickens and police responded immediately and visited the scene.
Jimmy Patrick Okema added that inquiries into the matter has been instituted at Lira City East Division.
