The residents of Pamoti West village in Moyo District have rejected over their facility to act as an isolation centre of COVID -19 suspects in Moyo District.
The residents have remained resistant to district decision to isolate COVID-19 suspects in Moyo District Farm Institute (DFI) located in their village. They have blocked the road leading to the facility as they were engaged in running battles with security forces while exchanging stone with teargas and bullets.
On Thursday the angry locals reportedly vandalized Moyo District Farm Institute in protest of the decision of district authorities to isolate COVID -19 suspects in the facility located in Moyo Sub County.
The locals insist that they have not been consulted by district leadership over the decision. In the scuffle, the district ambulance was pelted and it has been grounded at the police station.
James Amura, the LCII chair Aluru Parish stressed that they were not consulted about the move making them resilient.
As the RDC Moyo Mr Bob Labeja William addressed the locals, they continued purring that they are not ready to surrender the government facility to act as an isolation centre.
"The President issued directives to curb the spread of the deadly disease and that the district is enforcing the pronouncement," said Mr Bob Labeja
