A section of lawmakers from Acholi region have asked the government to provide support to family members of Kamdini road victims and for others who sustained injuries due to road crash like any other road accident victims.
Acholi MPs who were for the press briefing on the Kampala-Gulu Highway road crash at Northern Uganda Media Club today were; Hon. Gilbert Olanya, Hon. Betty Aol Ocan, Gulu City Woman MP and Sharon Balmoi Laker, the Gulu District Woman MP.
Hon. Betty Aol Ocan, the Gulu City Woman MP has appealed to the government through the office of Prime Minister to support the family members who are struggling with burial expenses.
Aol also added that government should procure ambulances that would be stationed in all major towns of Uganda as they save lives in case of a road accident.
"I was told that most of the victims died because there was no ambulance to take them to hospital. Let the government secure ambulances that would be on standby to help road crash victims," - She said.
Gilbert Olanya, the Kilak South MP said most of the relatives of the victims come from a poor background and needs support like any other road crash victims which the government has been supporting financially from the previous road crash in the country.
Sharon Balmoi Laker, the Gulu District Woman MP urged travellers to report any reckless drivers to authorities.
On January 6, 2023, a Roblyn Bus registration number UAz 381 rammed into a stationary trailer at Adebe Trading Centre at midnight and over 16 people died on spot and over 25 are still nursing serious injuries.
Most of the deceased were from Kitgum, Pader, Lamwo and Gulu City.
