Police have instructed musicians and entertainers not to move with more than five people, following violent incidents involving prominent artists Alien Skin and Pallaso.
Last week, we also witnessed the same incident happening in Lira City where Northern Uganda singer Ogwang Walter alias Lil Square was attacked by his former manager Awio Scrap Dealer at the street of Lira City destroying his car.
The directive, announced on Monday by Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango, comes in response to a series of altercations that escalated last week.
Onyango emphasized that these measures aim to prevent further unrest and maintain public order.
The decision follows a violent feud between the two musicians. On New Year’s Day, a brawl erupted when Alien Skin’s associates allegedly assaulted Pallaso during the Empere Festival in Entebbe. Pallaso retaliated by raiding Alien Skin’s home, damaging property, including vehicles.
“As Kampala Metropolitan and the joint security team, we do not want to see any artist moving with a group of youth hooligans trying to cause havoc,” he said. “Musicians will now be limited to five team members in public.” - Onyango condemned the violence and outlined the new restrictions.
The five permitted team members must include the artist’s DJ, manager, secretary, treasurer, and one personal security guard. Onyango warned that anyone exceeding this limit risks arrest. “If caught, the artist will be responsible for clarifying who among their entourage is allowed,” he added.
