Ndejje University's Acio Linda Abong crowned Miss Lango 2024/25

Acio Linda Abong, a 23 year old Ndejje University student, is the new Miss Lango after emerging winner of Lango beauty contest 2024/25 over the weekend.

Acio Linda is currently a student at Ndejje University pursuing a Diploma in Sustainable Agriculture and Extension.

The stiff competition that saw Linda from Bako Olang clan nailing down 10 other  competitors was held at Pacific Hotel, Lira City.  

The them for this year's competition was "Harnessing the Power of Lango Culture in tackling the Climate Change."

Queen Amaro Peace, 25, from Okii me Okabo representing Persons with Disabilities as Contestant No. 10, was celebrated as the 1st runner-up and bestowed with the title of Miss Ability Lango, highlighting her inspiring journey. 

Queen Acheng Priscilla, 18, from Palamyek as Contestant No. 6, captivated the audience and judges alike, securing the 2nd runner-up position. She is a student from Uganda Christian Institute who is currently pursuing a certificate in Secretarial Studies and Management.

After emerging victor at the glamorous crowning ceremony to replace Akot Gillian Tracy, the 2023/24 resigning queen. Linda went home with a cheque of Ugx 1.5million and first runner up Queen Amaro Peace walked away with a cheque of Ugx.1million and Queen Acheng Priscilla went home with a cheque of Ugx. 500,000.

The event also saw performances from singer Jim Ting who fully entertained the guests as they waited for the crowning of the new Lango's queen.

The event was graced by Hon. Boniface Okot, the Northern Youth MP and Acting Chairperson of the Committee of Trade, Tourism, Industries, and Cooperatives, as the Guest of Honor. Representatives of Hon. Min. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, Hon. Linda Agnes Auma and Cultural Leaders also attended.
