Minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees and Member of Parliament for Erute South, Sam Engola, has delivered school uniforms to 456 pupils at Olilo Primary School as part of efforts to improve school attendance and reduce dropout rates.

Engola said the distribution of the uniforms fulfilled a pledge he had made to the school, noting that keeping children in school remains one of his top priorities.

The initiative comes alongside the ongoing rehabilitation of a two-classroom block at Olilo Primary School, a project funded at Shs54.8 million.

Engola also announced plans to install a solar lighting system at the school to facilitate learning, particularly by improving access to lighting for pupils and teachers.

He further pledged to provide examination testing papers to support teachers as they prepare pupils for national examinations, with the goal of developing Olilo Primary School into a model school in Erute South.

Beyond primary education, Engola said he intends to establish a vocational school where school dropouts can acquire computer and practical skills.

According to the minister, the proposed vocational institution will provide an alternative pathway for young people who leave the formal education system, equipping them with practical skills for their future livelihoods.

The interventions at Olilo Primary School form part of Engola’s stated efforts to improve learning conditions and expand educational opportunities for children and young people in Erute South.
