It was an emotional return for South Sudan striker Tito Okello Odong as he stepped foot in his ancestral home in Agago District after 21 years.
Okello was welcomed by Kutongo clan chief Rwot Kasimiro Ongom and elders in Lakwa Village with traditional Acholi cleansing rituals. Okello walked over lined sticks and was blessed with Olwedo, a sacred plant used to ward off misfortune and attract success.
The visit was organized by Arua Hill FC Director Nyeko Caesar Otto, who came with other sports personalities: Stephen Odong Latek, Francis Onekalit, Desmond Arop Oryema, Denis Okot Oola, Isaac Agogo and Morris "Banana Joe" Ocen.
Speaking at his palace in Aloi Village, Rwot Ongom told the players to stay disciplined and rooted in culture. Okello, in return, promised to give back by supporting young footballers in Northern Uganda.
