A joint operation by Uganda Police and UPDF netted 15 suspects and bundles of marijuana in a late-night raid on Sunday, June 8, 2026.

The intelligence-led crackdown targeted alleged members of the “Aguus” criminal cell in Tegwana, Pece-Laro Division, Gulu City. Security forces stormed the area and recovered exhibits of marijuana during the sweep.

All 15 suspects are now detained at Gulu Central Police Station. They face charges including possession of contraband, loitering with intent to commit a felony, and common nuisance.

ASW West Police PRO ASP Ongom David Mudong condemned youth involvement in crime and urged them to “desist from criminality and engage in developmental activities.” He added that the operation will continue “until sanity is restored.”

Detectives are compiling the case file before forwarding it to the Resident State Attorney for legal guidance. Once sanctioned, the suspects will be arraigned in court.
