President Yoweri K. Museveni has criticized Ugandans seeking work in Dubai, questioning the appeal of jobs in what he described as a desert.
"People go to work in Dubai, but what are you going to do there, in a desert? You leave paradise here and go to work in those places," Museveni said during his nation address today, June 4.
He blamed the trend on "poor leadership and ignorance from people who are not rooted," adding, "I am rooted here."
President Museveni made the remarks during his state of the nation address today, at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, where the National Unity Platform (NUP) MPs did not attend.
His comments have already sparked debate online, with many pointing to youth unemployment as the real driver behind labor export.
