Otim David Beckham has etched his name into Ugandan athletics history after breaking the men’s long jump national record at the African Senior Athletics Championships.
Competing in the qualifying round today, Beckham leapt 7.79m to surpass the 7.75m mark that had stood for nearly 48 years.
The new record marks the first time the national mark has been broken since 1978. Beckham’s jump not only secured a personal milestone but also puts him in contention as the championships continue in Accra.
