Police in Omoro District have launched intensive investigations after unknown armed assailants attacked a female officer at Lalogi Police Barracks and fled with a police firearm loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition.

The incident occurred on the morning of May 11, 2026, at around 8:30 a.m. during a heavy downpour. According to police report Omoro CRB 320/2026, the victim was identified as AIP Beatrice Awor, Officer in Charge of Lalogi Sub county Police Station.

Reports indicate two men armed with metal objects stormed her uniport house inside the barracks. At the time, AIP Awor was reportedly seated inside while it was raining heavily.

The assailants allegedly entered through the open uniport, grabbed the officer, and attacked her. During the struggle, they reportedly strangled her and hit her several times on the head with a metallic object resembling a hammer.

Police say the officer fought back, leading to a scuffle. The attackers overpowered her, left her unconscious, and escaped with an SMG rifle registered as UG POL 48014235-15938 and 30 rounds of ammunition.

The attack sparked panic in the barracks and surrounding area. Detective Constable Kalaja Sowed of CID Lalogi and Police Constable Akwi Grace responded quickly and took the injured officer to Lalogi Health Centre IV for treatment.

Senior commanders, including the Omoro District Police Commander, also responded. The scene was secured for photography, documentation, and further investigation.

Police confirmed the firearm remains missing and the suspects had not been identified at the time of filing the report. Security agencies have intensified operations to track down the attackers and recover the weapon before it is used in further crimes.
