Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among has opened up about her rise from humble beginnings to one of Uganda’s top offices, describing herself as a lifelong hustler.
“All my life, I’ve been a hustler,” Among said. “I began as a housemaid, then made it to Centenary Bank as a teller and later a manager before heading to MUBS as a lecturer. I have been an MP, Deputy Speaker, and Speaker. I own businesses like any other Ugandan, I own farms. I’ve saved enough money for this car.”
Among shared the remarks while speaking about her personal background and career path.
The statement comes amid mounting pressure over her sources of income, with critics accusing her of stealing from government to fund a lavish lifestyle and investments.
