President-elect Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was sworn in for another five-year term on Monday in a ceremony marked by joy, pomp, and excitement at Kololo Independence Grounds.
Electoral Commission Chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama presented Museveni to Chief Justice Flavian Zeija, who administered the oath of office.
Having ruled since 1986, this new five-year mandate (2026–2031) extends his leadership.
After taking the oath, Justice Zeija handed Museveni the Instruments of Power. The president then inspected the military parade for the first time as head of state.
Earlier, Museveni arrived at Kololo to a welcome from senior government, head of states and party officials.
