Speaker of Parliament, Hon Anita Annet Among, has eulogized Mzee Nathan, the father of the late Jacob Oulanyah, describing him as a remarkable individual who instilled strong principles and valued education in his children.
In an official statement shared on her X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, Hon Among praised Mzee Nathan's parenting, citing the achievements of his late son Jacob, a brilliant lawyer and legislator, as a testament to his legacy.
She expressed gratitude for Mzee Nathan's contribution to raising a distinguished leader and assured the family of her continued support.
Hon Among also urged the Okori family to preserve the legacy of Mzee Nathan and Jacob Oulanyah.
Mzee Nathan Okori Adiyo passed away on March 20, 2026, at the age of 97 from St Mary's Hospital Lacor, after reportedly battling respiratory complications.
Mzee Okori who became a figure of national attention in April 2022 during the burial of his son in Omoro District will be laid to rest today Tuesday, March 31, 2026 next to his son grave.
Hon Anita Annet Among also spent the rest of Monday in Lalogi, where she joined others in preparing for Mzee Nathan Okori's funeral.
She also paid a poignant visit to the grave of his son, Jacob Oulanyah, laying a wreath in tribute to the late leader.
The Speaker of Parliament expressed condolences, saying "May the souls of the departed find everlasting peace." The funeral is set to take place today.
