Ministry of Works and Transport has reopened Karuma-Kamdini road for light vehicles, buses and medium trucks on December, 1, 2025, bringing partial relief to motorists who have faced days of traffic disruption.
The road section was severely affected last week after heavy rains caused damage to the main carriageway, forcing authorities to halt direct traffic flow.
According to the Ministry, light vehicles are allowed to safely cross the section using the newly completed detour.
However, all heavy vehicles shall continue to divert through the Karuma-Olwiyo-Anaka route both from Kampala to Gulu and from Gulu to Kampala until further notice.
Motorists are advised to proceed with caution and follow all traffic management instructions including the 30Km/hr speed limit along the detour.
