Gunya Julius Labeja, an independent candidate for Gulu City Mayor, says he offered himself to lead Gulu City, stating he's not backed by anyone.
In an interview with Lyee TV, Labeja emphasized that Gulu City needs a new competitive, passionate and compassionate leader who serves the people which is him.
Labeja also spoke about Gulu people's past history, stating he believes he's the right leader to elevate the city to first-class status, drawing on his experience in Canada.
He criticized incumbent Okwonga Alfred, arguing that Okwonga, not he (Labeja), is from an older generation, implying Labeja himself understands Gen Z better.
He added that Gulu City currently needs a leader with a deep understanding and appreciation of its past, as well as its current situation and also understands the problems facing its people.
Labeja urged youth to shed the mindset they're too young to lead.
