Uganda People's Congress (UPC) President Jimmy Michael Akena has urged Northerners who wanted to vote for him as Uganda's next president in 2026 general elections as president not to vote for President Museveni.
According to Jimmy Akena, President Museveni is the person who made him not to appear on the ballot and he doesn't deserve votes from the Lango people.
"I'm not on the ballot because of Yoweri Museveni, nothing to do with Mugisha Muntu, Bobi Wine or whatever it is but it is Yoweri Museveni who has made sure I'm not on the ballot,'' ''Now am saying to those of you who wanted to give me the vote or who still wants to give me the vote, you can not give the vote to the same person who has refused me to be on the ballot for his own reason."
Previously, President Museveni came out and distanced himself from the disqualification of Jimmy Akena as presidential candidate, saying that he did not even know that Akena wanted to stand for president.
