His Worship the Mayor, Alfred Okwonga, received a medal recognizing Gulu City Council as the Best Tourism Destination 2024/2025 during the ongoing World Tourism Day celebrations in Arua City.
He was officially handed the medal by the Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja, who noted that Gulu City provides the best environment for tourism to thrive.
World Tourism Day was celebrated today, Saturday, 27th September 2025, in Arua City, Uganda.
The event attracted revelers from across the country, making it a colorful and memorable celebration.
This year’s celebrations were held under the theme: “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.”
