Police in Nakasongola District are holding a man who allegedly beheaded his co-worker and attempting to sell his severed head in Kampala for alleged ritual purposes.

The suspect, identified as John Isoke, was apprehended by residents of Kyandigita-Bujumbula village in Nabiswera Sub-county while trying to flee with the head wrapped in a brown polythene bag.

According to police, Isoke was seen suspiciously leaving a farm managed by Ms. Ketty Namuga. Her alarm drew the attention of villagers, who intercepted the suspect.

Moments earlier, Ms. Namuga had discovered the headless body of one of her workers, Herbert Ameir, inside the farm compound. Isoke, a former employee, was spotted by a newly recruited worker just as he tried to escape.

Upon confrontation, Isoke allegedly dropped the bag containing the severed head and attempted to run but was captured by locals and handed over to Migyera Police Station.

Police say Isoke confessed to killing Ameir using a panga inside a small farmhouse before attempting to transport the head to Kisenyi, a Kampala suburb, for suspected ritual sale.

A blood-stained panga believed to have been used in the murder was recovered near the scene, beside Ameir’s decapitated body.

Authorities are now investigating whether Isoke acted alone or is part of a wider network involved in ritual killings.

The suspect is currently detained at Nakasongola Police Station as inquiries continue.
