US based Ugandan singer, songwriter and multi-talented instrumentalist Godfrey Godfrey Opio has officially released his highly anticipated third studio album, Roots, a four track blending project that speaks about his status and his background where he comes from.
Roots is a culturally rich album that explores a spectrum of sounds from the traditional instruments.
Roots arrives after his latest studio album, titled 'War Child', which was released in 2024, a poignant tale about the suffering and unprecedented loss of life that the people of Northern Uganda endured during the LRA war.
The album sees Godfrey Opio embrace his mastery of nanga and adungu, a traditional musical instrument of the Acholi and Alur while remaining grounded in his African heritage.
Opio who has committed himself in selling Luo music in the US started his musical journey in 2014 before moving to the United States in 2023.
The latest album comprises four singles which are; Duyee Lamele, Owiny Bwulu, Lamero, and Mama.
