Veteran opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye and his co-accused, Hajj Obeid Lutale have been further remanded to Luzira Prison until January 7, 2025, due to the incomplete constitution of their defense team.
This comes after the defence lawyers told the General Court Martial in Makindye that their team is not fully constituted as instructed by their clients.
This is after Kenya's former Justice Minister, Martha Karua who's supposed to be the lead counsel was denied license by the Uganda Law Council to practise law in Uganda.
The sticking issue in the case is that the court, which defence lawyers have described as a military tribunal, lacks the jurisdiction to try Dr Besigye and Mr Lutale who are civilians.
