Amolatar woman on the run after stabbing husband to death over bedsheet

Police in Amolatar District are hunting for a 20-year-old woman who went on the run after allegedly stabbing her husband to death.

Ms Loy Ojok, a resident of Acilidwe Village, Namasale Sub-county allegedly stabbed Patrick Ojok, 24, in the wee hours of Wednesday after they developed a misunderstanding over the bedsheet.

Richard Okello, a neighbour of the deceased, said the couple started quarrelling at 1am over who should use the line, prompting their intervention.

“As neighbors, we heard them quarrelling over a bedsheet. We came out and settled the matter, and the bedsheet was handed over to the deceased's wife,” narrated Okello

The North Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, confirmed the incident.

“On Wednesday morning around 6am when they checked on the deceased’s condition, and him lifeless. Police were informed, and the district CID, together with other officers, visited the scene,” the police spokesperson said.

Police however said no exhibit was recovered from the scene as the suspect is still at large.

“Efforts to have the suspect arrested is ongoing. We believe the deceased could have been saved if the first responders had rushed him for proper medical attention, "Okema said.

The body of the deceased has been taken to Amolatar Health Centre IV pending post-mortem examination.
