Amuru Resident District Commissioner Odong Stephen Latek has been sent for a leave while the District Police Commander (DPC) and the District Internal Security (DISO) of Amuru have reportedly been transferred following the controversies surrounding the death of Amuru District acting veterinary officer Dr Ochora Samuel.
According to the report obtained, Amuru DPC Joseph Nsabimana has been replaced with Superintendent of police Francis Liga who is yet to report to the office while Lt. Joseph Ebaalo (DISO) has been replaced with Nicolas Ojul.
The new development has however raised the eyes brows from the public which believes that the transfers are in connection with the death of the district veterinary officer.
The deceased (Dr Ochora Samuel) was reportedly accidentally shot dead in the wee hours of January 25/2024 during the eviction of non complainant balaalo from Akee village, Kololo parish in Lakang sub county in Amuru.
His death angered many who demanded for the arrest and removal of the security heads from their offices since some of them were part of the team carrying the operation from where the late DVO died.
Meanwhile, Stephen Odong Latek, the Amuru Resident District Commissioner, stated in a February 12 announcement that he had taken a 30-day annual leave, just weeks after facing heavy criticism following Ochora’s death. Proscovia Acham, his Deputy is now in charge of everything, according to Latek.
