The Lamwo Resident District Commissioner, Osborn Oceng has disallowed Lawmo school going children from selling edible rats.
Osborn issued the directive on Tuesday, February 6th following the alarming low turn up of learners in various government schools in the area.
“Low turnout in most schools in Padibe,Lamwo district, in northern Uganda as school going children are busy hunting, roasting and selling rats in trading centers,” said RDC Oceng.
According to him, most children have opted to engage in selling rats, a prominent local delicacy instead of reporting back to school.
"No more school going children will be allowed to continue selling rats. I gave this instruction to the police to implement today after getting children busy selling them rather than going to school,” said RDC Oceng.
On Monday, RDC Oceng visited several schools including Ayago P.7 in Lamwo District but he was greeted with a low turn up of learners.
