Two people were on Wednesday 16th knocked dead by YY Bus registration number UBF798T which lost control after hitting a pothole.
The incident happened at around 9 a.m in Ullepi Sub County, Madi Okollo District.
The West Nile Region Police Spokesperson, Josephine Angucia, has identified the deceased persons as Dabura Joyce and Nyasaro Stella, residents of Zabu village, Madi Okollo district.
Other Victims who got injured are Candiru Margaret, Ondrawu Night, and Angelina Amveku, passengers of the bus. They were evacuated to Nebbi Hospital for treatment
According to eyewitnesses, the bus was from Arua City, heading to Kampala, and when it reached Ullepi Sub County, it hit a pothole, hence losing control, and then rammed into the two deceased female pedestrians, killing them instantly.
Angucia asserts that they visited the scene and documented it, and the two bodies were taken to the Nebbi Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
The police officer says that inquiries continue under Madi Okollo TAR 26/2023, and preliminary investigations indicate the cause of the accident to be reckless driving by the driver of the YY Bus.
