At least one person was killed and several passengers critically wounded after a taxi tyre burst in Dokolo on Sunday afternoon.
The accident occurred at Agwata Forest on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at around 1:20 PM. The accident involved a taxi vehicle number UDH 002E, which was coming from Dokolo district to Lira city.
The North Kyoga Region police spokesperson, SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, has confirmed that at least one has died and several passengers were injured in the accident. He said that the injured are being treated at various health facilities in Lira district.
Okema said that the cause of the accident is still being investigated, but that it is believed that the driver may have lost control of the vehicle due to speeding.
He urged motorists to be careful on the roads and to obey the speed limit. He also said that the police will be conducting more patrols in the area to try to prevent future accidents.
