Former speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga has declared that she will not attend other funeral events for her successor, the late Jacob Oulanyah, including his burial in Omoro District on April 08.
Kadaga who is currently serving as the first deputy prime minister and minister of East African Affairs, Kadaga yesterday paid tribute to Oulanyah during a special sitting of Parliament.
She also pointed out that her and Oulanyah had a good working relationship.
Kadaga lost her position to the late speaker Jacob Oulanyah in May 2021.
After paying tribute to Oulanyah on Tuesday 5th April 2022 in special session, Kadaga notified Speaker Among that she wouldn’t attend other events to honour and send off Oulanyah.
These include the event that is being presided over by President Yoweri Kaguta Tibuhaburwa Museveni today at Kololo Independence Grounds, as well as burial in Omoro. .
“I will not be able to attend the other functions because of other obligations, but I want to say farewell to my friend, colleague and partner,” said Kadaga.
The former speaker will be out of the country for EAC activities in Arusha and Nairobi.
