At Least 17 Injured In Kampala Two Bomb Blasts

Shock and horror has gripped Kampala, the capital city of Uganda after two explosions rocked the city centre early on Tuesday, in what has been termed "an attack" on the city.

Both blasts took place in the central business area, one near the Central Police Station and a second one near the entrance to Parliament. The cause of the blast is not yet clear.

The first explosion occurred at about 10 a.m. local time on Kampala's Buganda Road, according to the reports from the scene.

Police and army personnel cordoned off streets around the blast site and several ambulances were deployed. Images on social media showed several people lying on the streets near the entrance of Central Police Station and Kampala's High Court, though there is no clarity on the dead but several injured

At Parliamentary Avenue, where the second explosion occurred, all streets have been cordoned off by security, with legislators and parliamentary staff evacuated.

Meanwhile, Uganda Red Cross Society team has confirmed that they have managed to resuscitate 17 patients. 5 were discharged and 12 referred to Mulago.
