Police in Adjumani are holding a 25-year-old South Sudanese national over allegations of defiling a 4-year-old girl.
The suspect has been identified as Onek Jackson, a resident of Magwi County, South Sudan.
According to police, the incident was reported to have occurred on Tuesday evening at around 5:00pm in Paridi Cell, Adjumani Town Council.
It is alleged that the suspect brought the child from Mucope village to an unfinished building where the offense was committed.
Police say at the time, the child’s parents were away attending a funeral and the minor had been left in the care of her 10-year-old sibling.
The suspect is currently in custody at Adjumani Central Police Station as investigations continue.
