Government of the Republic of Uganda on Monday, June 15, 2026, repatriated 45 former Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) abductees and their children from Wau, South Sudan.
The ex-combatants freed from LRA captivity were officially received by intelligence chief Maj. Gen. Richard Owili Otto, alongside political, cultural, and religious leaders, after arriving in Uganda at around 10:40 a.m. through Gulu airfield.
They will receive medical attention before being transferred to the Terra Renaissance Rehabilitation Center in Gulu City. From there, the group will undergo rehabilitation and skills training before community reintegration.
