Uganda Wildlife Authority UWA has revised transit guidelines for motorists using alternative routes through Murchison Falls National Park.

Buses can temporarily transit via the kichumbanyobo - Tangi route until December 31, 2024.

This comes after the legislators from Northern Uganda calling upon UWA and Ministry of Work to waive the charges imposed on the travelers using Pakwach- Murchison Falls route.

This change aims to enhance travelers convenience while maintaining park integrity.

Previously, vehicles transiting through Kichumbanyobo park were required to pay park entrance fees.

However, due to Karuma Bridge's temporary closure, Uganda Wildlife Authority permitted  motorists to use alternative routes, including Tangi-Bugungu gates via Bulisa town council free of charge.

Operating hours are 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. Motorists must plan their journey accordingly and adhere to set hours. Transit visitors must enter by 6.pm and exit by 7.pm.

UWA enforces a 40km/h speed limit within the park. Non compliance attracts fines or penalties.

Other guidelines include: no littering (100,000) fine. No unnecessary stopping, Authorised tourist vehicles only may deviate from the designated routes, no feeding animals and no hooting fine (100,000).

UWA emphasized adherence to these guidelines to ensure safety, protect the wildlife and preserve the park's environment.
