Great Stevens has clarified the claims making rounds on social media following the Eddy Kenzo festival saga in Arua saying that he is not the accused promoter.
On Saturday 14, September 2024, Eddy Kenzo was hired to perform to his fans in Arua at Hotel Santa Maria by a one event organizer named Nyeko Stephen but the event didn't go according to the plan resulting in chaos which later claimed a life.
It is reported that the chaos started after the event organizer failed to pay the local artists and Eddy Kenzo and this irritated the fans who grew wild and started rioting while demanding for the performers to step on stage.
Speaking to the press on Monday, 16th September 2024, a prominent Northern Uganda event organizer, Great Stevens of Great Stevens Production Ltd said he is not the accused promoter though their names resemble.
"My name is Great Steven, that is my brand name from Great Stevens production Ltd. I'm a registered company and first I want to send my condolences to the families who lost their lives during the Eddy Kenzo festival in Arua. Back here at home, my family is scared due to what has happened. I want to be very clear to the team Eddy Kenzo because this is not the first time this thing has happened to me." He asserted.
He however appealed to Eddy Kenzo and team to have a round table seat down together with Nyeko Stephen of Stephens Marketing Agency and settle this matter affecting his name, brand and business.
"So Eddy Kenzo and team they need to seat down together with Nyeko and they have to settle this matter because is really affecting me, my business and my brand because right now I have an upcoming project which is going to take place in West Nile and will make people to look at me like like am a bad person." Says Great Stevens.
He also went ahead and said he has an upcoming project which is going to take place in West Nile and doesn't want people in the affected areas to look at him like a wrong person.
He added that his last event in West Nile was with music legend Jose Chameleone and was very successful.
"And my last event in West Nile was with Jose Chameleone and was a very successful one. I don't remember leaving Adjumani or Arua when anyone complained about me. I cleared everything to zero and this is me." - he stated.
He further continued saying that a similar incident happened last year in Kitgum where he received phone calls from many people demanding him for their payment.
"Last year, the same incident whereby I received a lot of calls right from the boda boda riders, artists and people who supply the Eddy Kenzo festival in Kitgum after the event I received a lot of calls people asking for their money whereby I was so green of anything because it was not my event just because Nyeko Stephen happen to be my name sake who is running a company called Stephen Marketing Agency and because of my brand name that is so louder than his making people to believe that the Stephen is me. So I want to make it clear to the people who have shown their concerns by calling me since Friday when Eddy Kenzo was performing in Adjumani and on Saturday when he was in Arua. Sincerely I'm very sorry to have shared the same name with Stephen and to make the matter worse, Nyeko Stephen is from the North and I think he hails from Kitgum." He disclosed.
Nyeko Stephen is a long time working partner of singer Eddy Kenzo and they have been doing the business together with the music star.
