Prominent Northern Uganda boxing champion, Okello Ronald has been called to the Uganda National boxing team squad.
Okello Ronald, a son to Acholitronix music star Otim Alpha Oziate is currently in training camp together with his other colleagues who will be representing the country at the 2023 Africa Boxing Championship in Yaounde, Cameroon.
The 17 man squads who have been named in the Uganda Bombers are; Kalema Joseph (40kgs Minimum), Wasswa Ssali (60kgs Light), Matovu Ukasha(65kgs Welter), Okello Ronald (75kgs Middle), Kayiwa Lawrence (86kgs Cruiser), Geko Solomon (92kgs S/Heavy), Najjemba Nadia (54kgs Bantam), Namutebi Erina (63.5kgs L/Welter) Mulungi Khassim(57kgs Feather), Tukamuhebwa Joshua(63.5kgs L/Welter), Semuddu Muzamir (71kgs L/Middle) Mukiibi Idris(80kgs L/Heavy), Baraka James(92kgs Heavy), Nakinga Grace (50kgs Fly), Ndagrie Shalua (57kgs Feather), Nandaula Zahara (60kgs Light), and Nakalema Emily (65kgs Welter).
Ronald is going to be the first product Gulu Boxing Club has ever produced to feature in the Uganda Bombers team.
Gulu Boxing Club is currently producing quality boxers in the country who are going to be representing the country in the international tournaments like the Olympics and many others. The tournament is slated for 26th July - 8th August 2023.
