Pader District will host the 5th Acholi Cultural Festival (ACF) from December 12–14, 2026, following its official launch by the Paramount Chief of Acholi, Rwot David Onen Acana II.

Held under the theme “Acholi Cultural Revival Will Promote Unity and Development,” the festival aims to preserve Acholi heritage, strengthen unity and promote regional development.

Rwot Acana II said rotating the annual festival across Acholi districts is intended to revive cultural values, foster social cohesion and stimulate development.

The three-day event will feature traditional dances, music, drama, local cuisines, arts and crafts. Between 15 and 20 cultural groups are expected to perform traditional dances, including Bwola, Larakaka, Otole and Dingidingi.

The cultural leader called on government agencies, businesses, manufacturers and non-governmental organisations to participate, saying the festival provides a platform to showcase products and services, build networks and promote trade.

Communities from across the Acholi sub-region, neighbouring regions and South Sudan have been invited to attend. Families are also encouraged to bring children during the school holidays to learn about and appreciate their cultural heritage.

The festival will conclude on December 14, coinciding with Pader Day, which commemorates the district's declaration by the government.

Rwot Acana II thanked Pader District leaders, the media and the Ker Kwaro Acholi organising team for their support, urging stakeholders and the public to ensure the festival's success.
