A head-on collision between a Gulu Secondary School bus and a Fuso truck in Kigumba killed at least one person and injured 17 students Thursday morning.
The bus was carrying students on a tour to Jinja when it reportedly crashed Thursday, May 7, 2026 after the driver attempted a dangerous overtake.
The crash occurred at about 5:44 a.m when the bus collided head-on with an oncoming Fuso truck, according to Traffic Police spokesperson SP Michael Kananura
“The bus conductor died on the spot, while 17 students sustained injuries,” Kananura said.
Police said two students were critically injured and 15 suffered minor injuries. All were admitted to Kiryandongo Hospital.
