Dr Chris noted that Nation Media Group and other media houses are free to tap content from UBC, being a national broadcaster of the nation.

"NTV or any other media house is free to tap content from UBC. So there is nothing which stops NTV or any media house from getting content from the national broadcaster- ICT Minister, Dr Chris Baryomunsi told MPs during the parliament sitting regarding the matter.

He said also that some radio have also been put off during this election seasons when they became irresponsible.

According to reports from NMG,-parent company of the Daily Monitor, NTV Uganda, and 93.3 KFM have not been allowed at President Museveni’s events since March this year.

This comes after State House Deputy Spokesperson, Farouk Kirunda, on Tuesday night issued a statement, clarifying that the President’s decision was a personal directive and not a general restriction on the company’s operations within the country.

Dr Chris further stated that they should allow the State and the government to regulate the media so that they can have responsible media in Uganda.
