The deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Kwania District, Mr. Jacob Jonga has been remanded to Gulu Prison until the 4th July on charges of assaulting Ms. Gillian Akullu, the RDC of Alebtong.

Mr Jacob appeared in front of Gulu High Court magistrate Mr  Saidi Mbarigye on Wednesday 28th June 2023 where he was denied bail.

The Gulu High Court magistrate, Saidi Mbarigye said Jonga was remanded to Gulu Central Prison after failing to secure bail because he had only two sureties, and his third was still on his way to court.

The deputy RDC was arrested on Sunday, 22th from Gulu University during a meeting organized by Operation Wealth Creation after the assault.

According to Saidi, Jonga had only a photocopy of his National Identity Card which wasn't sufficient and the court had to adjourn the session until July 4th 2023.
