Police in Amuru District has arrested a 20 year old man for allegedly killing his 4 year old son for unknown reasons.

The suspect has been identified as Walter Komakech, a resident of Kakati A village in Pabbo Sub County, was arrested on Sunday.

Komakech allegedly killed Rwot-twero Isaac on Sunday, at around 8am, and dumped his body in a nearby stream.

According to authorities, Komakech on Saturday assaulted Rwot-twero, stepping on his chest and breaking his lab before dumping him in a nearby bush.

On Sunday he went to check on him and found him still a live before killing him and dumping his body in a nearby stream.

David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson, says the suspect attempted to hide the body of the deceased about 50 meters from the crime scene but it was found by neighbors.

Mudong says the suspect was later apprehended by the police and is currently in custody at Pabbo Police station pending investigations. The deceased body according to Mudong was taken to Gulu Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem.

He notes that the minor wouldn’t have met his death had his stepfather taken up the responsibility of guiding instead of punishing him.

According to section 189 of the Uganda penal code act, any person convicted of murder shall be sentenced to death.
