Two children have met their untimely death after a domestic fire claimed their lives in a house in Kasubi sub ward, Layibi- Bardge Division in Gulu City.
The deceased were identified as Joshua Gum 7, and his sister Apwoyorwot Gifty 2 and half year.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening at around 10.p.m when the grass thatched house they were sleeping in caught fire.
According to neighbors, it's uncleared whether the children who were alone had left the candle burning in a house which could have caused the fire.
It's reported that their father, Kidega Pope who is a boda boda rider and their mother who is a cook in one of the schools in Gulu City were not at home at the time of the incident.
The Deputy Resident City Commissioner for Bar-dege-Layibi Division, Abanya Peter says it's unfortunate that the children could not be saved by the neighbors or police fire brigade.
He however blamed police for responding late at the scene when the house had burnt to ashes and the children were already dead.
