Rev. Fr. Charles Onen currently is a threat to several incumbents for Gulu East constituency.

On Thursday, 15th, he was successfully nominated as an independent candidate vying for the position of Gulu East constituency MP in the forthcoming general election after the Gulu archdiocese saga.

It should be noted that a few days ago, the Archbishop of  Gulu, John Baptist Odama, has suspended the Rev Fr Charles Onen for declaring his political bid contrary to laws barring priests from participating in politics.

Rev Fr Charles Onen is still going to be the first Rev Father from Northern Uganda to join politics and he has brought panic to his fellow incumbents who are eyeing the same seat with him come 2021 general election.

He told journalists when addressing media houses after his nomination that he has come as a bridge and an independent so that they work together irrespective of political affiliation and irrespective of religious affiliation and that's why he has stepped into politics.

''I'm coming as a bridge and we move beyond the mid of desperation and corporately, am coming as a bridge, am coming as an independent so that we work together irrespective of political affiliation irrespective of religious affiliation this is what has made me come," he said.

He, however, promised to sanitize Parliament if the people of Gulu East elect him comes 2021 because Uganda parliament is full of corrupt leaders.
