Creative Artists Of Luo Land (CALL) is set to launch an initiative aiming to tackle critical issues in the community within the region under the theme; increasing participation in blood donation.

The Gang Waa Pi Waa is a community driven initiative to address critical health and social issues within the Northern region. Creative Artists of Luo Land has been in existence for two years now.

The initiative is centred on driving the mindset change in three domains of social economical development, environmental conservation and increased participation  in blood donation.

Gang Waa Pi Waa, which means 'Our Homer For Us' will be launched on the 23rd of November with a donations drive at Kaunda Ground as they call on the community to turn up in large numbers in order to combine efforts in mobilizing more blood to help the needy.

Meanwhile Creative Artists of Luo Land is partnering with Gulu Regional Blood Bank, Red Cross Uganda and.... in their first mobilization of blood and they are targeting about 500,000 donors.

The drive will run to four sub-regions of Northern Uganda that are; Acholi, West Nile, Lango and Karamoja

BACKGROUND:
Access to safe and adequate blood supply is a critical component of healthcare, yet our region faces challenges in meeting the demand. Blood is a vital medical product that cannot be manufactured elsewhere and can only be obtained from a willing eligible donor.

According to Cankara David Spokesperson for CALL, CALL is committed to combating the stigmatization of health related issues such as the scarcity of blood in hospitals and the misconceptions surrounding the blood donation and aim to break down the barriers that prevent people from donating blood especially in rural and underrepresented communities.

He further explained that the partnership aligns with their broader mission of giving back to their community by promoting social welfare and addressing critical issues.

He added that artists see the partnership as a way to give back to their community in a meaningful and impactful way.

"Blood donation is a life saving act, and by encouraging fans and followers to participate, they are not only supporting the health sector but also fostering a spirit of unity and patriotism. The initiative further enhances the art industry's image as socially conscious leaders who are committed to uplifting the well-being of the region."

According to Cankara, their main goal is to mobilize the community of eligible blood donors within the Northern region to donate blood and ensure adequate blood supply for patients in need.

He however indicated that the initiative is going to be a yearly event that will be giving back to the community.
