Hunger Forces Teenage Girls To Turn Thy Vending To Earn A Living In Gulu City

A new report which has emerged reveals that hunger has forced a lot teenage girls in Gulu city to start selling themselves like tomatoes in order to sustain their livelihood.

According to local authorities, sex for food is common in most slums in the city including Kanyagoga A cell and Industrial area in Bar-dege-Layibi division.

Florence Atto, the Local council One chairperson Kanyagoga A Cell, says the girls who are engaged in such illegal practice are aged between 12-17.

Most parts of Acholi. Lango and Karamoja sub regions are grappling with severe food crisis as a result of climate change which has affected food production in the country.

Just in less than 3 months reports indicates that over 900 people have so far died due hunger in Karamoja region.
