Celebrated legendary female artist Pretty B has spoken out against vulgar music, saying it is “killing and destroying” the industry, but noted it persists because people keep promoting it.

Speaking during an interview with Luo Tunes, Pretty B said she does not support vulgar music continuing.

“At first, I am not going to support that vulgar music should continue,” she said. “But at the end of the day, the vulgarity is there because there are people promoting it.”

Pretty B argued that vulgar content has degraded artistic standards. “Vulgar music is killing and destroying our industry,” she said. “These days artists are making noise. It’s no longer music that puts impact in the communities."

Pretty B, however, claimed that today’s artists sing “trash,” unlike Dida Moses, Bosmic Otim, Jaharia Okwera, BSG Labongo, and Grace Olewinya, who used to sing meaningful songs that impacted communities.

“Because if you compare the music of this generation and that of those days — like Dida Moses, Jaharia Okwera, BSG Labongo, Grace Olewinya, and Bosmic Otim — when it plays you really enjoy it,” she said. “These are people who sang so much for the war and they’ve encouraged us.”
