The government has approved Shs5m cattle compensation per household in Acholi, Lango, and Teso regions for cattle lost during past wars.
Minister Dr. Chris Baryomunsi announced the decision, made at Monday's cabinet meeting, saying the Shs5m represents the value of five cattle.
The government will use Parish Development Committee members to identify beneficiary families, bypassing lawyers and middlemen.
Dr. Baryomunsi explained the support is for areas hit by LRA insurgency and added that households will also receive five Shs1m heifers to address poverty and restock cattle. The process will be phased, with funds already allocated to start.
