Gulu District staff reportedly refuse to work under mango trees as leaders lobbies for funds to complete Shs8 billion district headquarters.

The staff are said to have rejected the directive by their leadership to   relocate from Gulu City to Awach Town Council, the seat of the district (Gulu).

This comes after a February 28 letter by the Chief Administrative Officer Ismael Ochengel requiring   all district technical staff to relocate to Awach as they continue to lobby for more funds to complete the Shs8 billion district headquarters.

“I would rather remain in Gulu City where I am easily accessible by all the staff I work with than go and be   redundant under mango trees in Awach”, says one of the senior officials at the district who preferred anonymity.

The Resident District Commissioner Charles Ichogor implored the staff to amicably relocate to the district’s new location (Awach) so that they use it as a lobbying tool for the Central Government to look into the matter and provide funds to complete the administrative block.
